Pumpkin Leash.

A Halloween night in New York, starring my dog Archie. I directed it, and Claude made it. Working in Claude Code, Claude storyboarded the song, designed Archie's character, generated every frame and clip, and wrote the edit as code.

One night, told from the other end of the leash.

The lyrics follow a single Halloween night. Archie gets into his bat wings and cape at the door, the two of us haunt the block, and every chorus breaks into a run through the city. The bridge slows down at a red light, and the night ends with him asleep on the candy bag.

Every shot in the video comes from a line of the song. The cut ends on real photos of Archie.

How it was made

05 STEPS
  1. SONG

    The song

The track is playful, spooky synth-pop at 112 BPM, made with Suno. A speech-recognition pass gave every word a timestamp, so the on-screen lyrics land exactly on the vocal.

  2. CASTING

    Getting Archie right

The first stylized design was a generic cartoon puppy with perky ears and big eyes. It didn't feel like Archie, so the second round was built only from his recent photos, with the things that make him Archie written in: lanky legs, a wiry white coat, a ginger head, long shaggy ears and a messy fringe.

  3. STORYBOARD

    59 shots, one per line

Each lyric became a shot with its own keyframe: the bowl of bones, the moon over the water towers, the skeletons on the fire escape, the red light. Claude checked every frame against his photos and redid the ones that drifted.

  4. MOTION

    Animating the big moments

Twenty keyframes became six-second animated clips: the runs, the leaf jump, the bark into the lens, the block party. The rest are stills with camera moves. One clip turned Archie into a different dog halfway through, so it was re-rolled.

  5. EDIT

    Cut to the kick drum

The edit is code that Claude wrote. Cuts and a subtle pulse follow every kick drum hit pulled from the track, the lyrics pop in word by word, and each "woof woof" gets a stamp. The same timeline also renders a vertical cut, with the crop following Archie shot by shot.
